Geopolitical Risk and Keeping Together a Thousand-Year Family

Carlos will share his perspective on geopolitical risk and keeping together a thousand year family. The Austro-Hungarian empire was controlled by Carlos’s grandfather, and Mexico by his great-grand uncle. Within a year of an unexpected geopolitical event, the family lost everything. They had a trust, carefully selected trustees, and family holdings diversified geographically. Carlos will discuss how his family’s values, education, and ultimately the desire to remain a family helped them overcome one of the greatest geopolitical disasters of the twentieth century.
